Empty Stomach, Beer & Life Drawing

Recently found out about this small organization called Toons on Tap that runs costumed life drawings once a week on the 2nd floor of a bar in downtown Toronto. It's pretty chill and cool cause its the exact opposite of regular figure drawing sessions where the smallest noise that barely finds a way out of your headphones can put people on the verge of insanity!

poses are from 1 to 10 minutes

And these are from a regular session. There is a shortage of smooth newsprint in town once again and i hated how the conte' was reacting so I instantly switched to marker.

Economic Crisis

Pencil was not the best idea for life drawing last night. I noticed it doesn't really help "economy of line" or in other words, I couldn't say much with little (pencil strokes), therefore, time was an issue.
Good thing about it is that it makes you focus more on the cake and less on the icing, if that makes any sense!

Might post something other than naked people any century now...

Smells like Academy Awards ...

So its just another life drawing session that's about to start, and guess who walks in?
Chris Landreth
I'm a huge fan of this guy and really love his work on Ryan which won him an academy award. Ryan to me is the prime example of 3D animation making perfect sense and its beautifully done, needless to mention that I really admire Ryan Larkin's work and his interesting character.

I had permission to take this photo!
Besides having a celebrity in the room, everything else was the same old ...

No Conte'.

I like not using conte for life drawing every now and then, even though its frowned upon!

The first one goes back to April I guess, on the very last day of school, after pulling the last all-nighter for the last project. It was a Sherlock Holmes themed costumed life drawing. Really fun and liberating.

Results are even worse for me  when the models are wearing something!

The second series is from last Friday. I forgot to take my conte' with me so I just decided to use pen and water color again in my tiny sketch book. Such a disappointing session though. Just sharing for the sake of sharing.

Speaking of none-conte' life drawings, Yana was with me in this session and she did it straight in her laptop-slash-tablet thingy. Its crazy! check it out.

Summer Life Drawing, So Far

The thing about life drawing in summer is that I both love it and hate it.
Love it cause there is no more portfolio, pressure or competition. It's stress-free.
Hate it cause it's freakin' expensive! Specially when you are jobless.
Anyway, here's what I've been up to so far ...
